Project Location
Hills, Iowa – a small town south of Iowa City. The Clark property is a two‑story home on a corner lot, exposed to full sun on the south and west sides. The old vinyl had faded unevenly and had several cracked panels from hail and lawn equipment bumps.
Materials Used

The Work Process
Our crew started by removing the old vinyl siding carefully. Underneath, we found some moisture damage on the house wrap and a few soft spots on the OSB sheathing. We replaced those sections and installed fresh house wrap before adding the new siding.
The insulated vinyl panels are heavier than standard vinyl, which makes them more rigid and impact‑resistant. We nailed each panel according to CertainTeed’s specifications to allow for thermal expansion. The foam backing compresses against the wall, filling gaps and stopping drafts.
We replaced all corner posts, window trim, and soffit materials to match. The UV protection means the color will stay consistent for years, even on the west side that gets afternoon sun. The whole project took four days.
After finishing, we did a thorough cleanup, using magnet sweepers on the lawn and blowing off the driveway. The Clarks walked around with us and approved every detail.
The Result
The Clark property now has a durable, energy‑efficient siding that looks like new. The insulated backing has already reduced drafts, and the UV protection will keep the color vibrant for years. The home’s curb appeal is dramatically improved.
